The MPTA Legislative Committee works with the MPTA Lobbyist Firm, Muchmore, Harrington, and Smalley (login required) and the MPTA Board of Directors. This committee is a resource for MPTA members to get answers to specific questions regarding legislation in Michigan. Advocacy and Legislation at a National level is handled by APTA. SB 582 Passed out of Committee - Senate Vote Next Step

Senate Bill 582 was passed by the Senate Transportation Committee this morning by a vote of 4-0.  SB 582 adds physical therapists to the list of health professionals eligible to make determinations regarding the need for disability parking placards.  The bill could be heard on the Senate floor as early as next week.  Please look for a call-to-action email from MPTA!  Special thanks to Sen. Marty Knollenberg for his support of this important legislation!
